a lot of californians are likely be busy shopping online. there on amazon scooping up items before the popular website has to start charging a tax. a 7.25% tax will be charged. we share a tip that will help you continue saving some money when you shop. >> reporter: it's the end of an era, a glorious era. i love finding amazon boxes at my door because i know i've saved money. on average you can save about 12% from buying an item through amazon.com instead of going into a store and buying that same item. a big chunk of that savings is because amazon has not had to
11:16 pm
charge sales tax. that's coming to an end. amazon will continue to offer free shipping on a lot of items that total over $25. i recommend you become a prime member. it gives you two day shipping on almost every amazon item there is. without a $25 minimum requirement. and prime members have access to amazon's video streaming service. 25,000 tv shows and movies you can watch on your tv or mobile device. it's like netflix streaming but offered by amazon. when you combine that and the free shipping it's a great deal. amazon was able to not charge sales tax before now being not having a physical presence in california because they had no affordses affordses -- no addresses here they did not have to charge taxes. it is unfair, many people have
11:17 pm
developed a habit of shopping on amazon or other sites and are not visiting their local stores as much. so california will reap a lot of money from this. it's expected to gain $150 million in sales tax on this. now that amazon will collect taxes, it might as well open shipping warehouses here. and it plans to. two warehouses are being built that will bring jobs to california. in the next few years they will have as many as 10 distribution centers staffing thousands. having these warehouses here will mean quicker delivery of items if you do continue to purchase on amazon. gabe slate, kron4 news. we're expecting mostly clear skies, some patchy fog but over all going to be lovely. then even warmer temperatures expected as we head into your workweek. so futurecast four is showing
